In short
Someone who wants to work at your company chose to write to you, in their own name. They picked you by name.
If that is not welcome, one field on this page ends it for good.
1. Stop it now
This takes effect immediately and applies to everyone who uses Overture, not just the person who wrote to you.
One field
Remove me from Overture.
Your address goes on a suppression list checked before every email we send, for everyone who uses Overture.
You can also reply to any email from us with the words “remove me”. No account, no login, no link to click.
2. What Overture is
Overture is a platform senior professionals use to take themselves to market. A candidate records an interview about their own work, reviews the transcript line by line, then picks the companies they want to approach. They approve every word before it goes, and it is sent in their own name from an Overture address set up for them. Their first note asks you to keep the conversation between you, because their search is discreet.
It is not an agency mailing a list. Nobody is paid to put that person in front of you, and no fee is attached to hiring them.
3. Why you, specifically
The candidate named your company. We then looked for the person most likely to own hiring for the kind of work they do, and that was you.
One candidate sends at most four short notes, over about three weeks of working days, and stops as soon as you reply. Once a candidate has written to you, no other candidate on Overture can approach you for 90 days, or for 20 days after you say no. Your company as a whole receives approaches from no more than three candidates in any twenty day period. These are rules in the system rather than a policy on a page.
4. What we hold
Three fields, taken from a business contact database. Nothing personal, and nothing built from watching you.
- What we store. Your name, your job title and your work email address. Then the emails sent to you, and any replies.
- What we never store. No home address, no personal phone number, no profile built from your behaviour.
- Who sees it. The candidate who approached you, and nobody else. Your details are never sold or shared.
- The database. Apollo.io, which lists professional contact details for business use. You can ask them to remove you as well, though the field above is enough to stop us.
5. Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Use the field above, or reply to any email from us and say so. We answer within thirty days. The Privacy Policy is the fuller account.
